Bottom line - pass on this book. the first book was engaging, and while slow paced, allowed for some great character development; sadly this installment throws it all away while destroying the same characters. My issues (not inclusive) are:
- Extremely slow and repetitive (especially the hot-tub bubble depictions with the children - over, and over and over again...)
- excruciatingly detailed (while not) regarding mundane tasks (Ex - when building a hydro powered generator - not nearly enough info provided to help a reader plan their own (like Rawles books), but LOTS and LOTS of time spent describing tedious manual labor)
- WAY, WAY excessive use of profanity (much, much more than first book)
- a departure into smut (lead married characters now using porn scenes to enhance their marital activities?)
- an even more so token node to Christianity (characters continue to say grace before meals and that is about it) while supporting completely unbiblical positions on sin and immorality (deviant sexual behavior) - zero faith development or depiction of any real Christian behavior
- Completely invalid Christian positions on matters of doctrine - such as "proudly" standing before God when being judged for the things they've done, supporting deviant sexual relationships
- Graphic depictions of the practice (and much more concerningly) the *enjoyment* of torture - by supposed Christians
- implausible "great fortune" where main characters constantly are finding troves and troves of supplies and advanced military equipment
- impossible use of technology, hacking, communication equipment, and electronics.
- destruction of carefully constructed characters from first book - devolving them from loving family members into raving rage-aholics who hop themselves up on amphetamines and go on torture and killing sprees - BEFORE anything really serious even happens...
- Every single protagonist character has become a "mary-sue" - at EVERYTHING
This book was a huge disappointment - especially from the Christian perspective. It would have been far better to have completely eliminated faith from these individuals versus depicting them as believers while having them support (with zero moral conflict) a huge berth of unchristian behavior, such as: retributive killing, proactive killing, graphic torture (for dubious gain) that they engage in as much because they ENJOY torturing enemies, embracing unrepentant sin (anger, deviant sexual behavior, the ends justify the means), completely unbiblical positions on crucial matters of Christian faith - such as righteousness before God, graphic depictions of rape and sexual battery scenes. I realize I'm reading a post apocalyptic novel - but it was over the top.
I read the first book and really started to like the characters. Not even a third of the way into this second and the series and I'm done.

Forgotten Forbidden America Patriots Reborn edition by Thomas A Watson Christian Bentulan Amanda Shore Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
An excellent sequel to the first book in this 'Forgotten Forbidden America' series. Mr. Watson continues to impress!
As Nelson and his family/clan persevere to survive the unraveling of their beloved country, new threats appear to be closing in around them. Through teamwork, dedication, and pure stubbornness, they must address these dangers before the children on their farm are in the crosshairs.
An action-packed, yet humorous story that perfectly states the lengths that true patriots (and parents) will go to protect the future generation. When the lines are drawn, there is no choice but to fight. To bow down to a corrupt government will NEVER be an option. A very entertaining tale. Very well done!
Another great read by Watson. Spoiler alert.
This one has Nelson, Michelle and family plus their two attack trained Rotties Hera and Zeus, along with Matt, Ashley and family, Jared and sister Nancy and Duke Jared's attack trained Rottie at the farm. Loads of work has been done and is still being done to fortify the farm.
Jared learns from Michelle that Special Forces tried to snap Nelson up but Nelson told them he was only serving five years then he was getting out.
Nelson saw the writing on the wall in the Middle East wars. He wasn't going to stick around and fight for a Govt. that hog tied its military with ridiculous ROEs. Hell. You had to call and ask if you could shoot at those trying to kill you. Nelson is more than capable and he an Michelle are quite a team.
The Govt. troops, augmented by UN troops, are slowly clearing people from their homes. Seizing any and all weapon and supplies. The people are being bussed to interment camps and many are being executed. Those not wanting to go or surrender their weapons are being killed.
The President has signed many executive orders backed by the Supreme Court and Congress. Some States have seceded from the Unions. Texas, Montana and North Dakota are among them. These free states are fighting back.
At the farm they have all seen the wanted flyers. Seems most of them are now wanted fugitives in this new America and Nelson and those at the farm could care less. They are also watching closely to see if any Govt. troops know about the farm. So far they haven't seen any close.
Nancy, using her abilities, has released loads of data to the Gov. of Texas, a free state. This data will help the free states and its data that has been passed out to everyone who can receive it.
The crew is out at the wreck they put on the road. A wreck that blocks the road towards the farm. They have seen two Government cars headed their way. All in them are taken prisoner by Nelson and his team. They learn that Steven, the brother of Hank from the next farm has sold them out. Of course this will be addressed with Hank and his family.
Nelson, a very capable Nelson, interrogates them using methods he learned in the sandbox. How successful he is.
Hank and his family aren't very good at survival in the new world and Nelson and Jared have taken the time to outfit them with weapons and training. They are allies though and Nelson figures they need all the allies they can get. Hank was disgusted with brother Steven and threw him out of the house but that's all he did. Stevens wife and kids are more than willing to learn how to fight and could care less about Steven. They know they will have to fight to stay alive.
So begins a great read.
This one has Nelson, Michelle a duo who once again prove how capable and savvy they both are, Matt, Jared a Jared who needs to be reminded that Nelson knows his business quite well, a recon on the town taken over by Govt. troops, loads of supplies that include gold, silver and weapons, a Govt. safe house, a Bernard and the crew who dam off the creek at the farm for hydro power, a Gavin who's super with the electric cars Nelson has, cars that are fitted with explosives, the take down of the Govt. location, woman and other prisoners who are freed, Ronald, an ex Army Sgt. who did tours in the sandbox, his kids, a Ronald Nelson and the crew offer to take in, a Ronald who accepts. a Ronald who's an electrician, a Ronald who's skill are badly needed, murder, rape, the Free States taking the fight to the Govt. and Nelson, Michelle and the crew doing their best to take out the Govt. troops, save as many as they can and survive.
Five Stars. super read.
